If Only

September 30, 2017

So Much has changed since last year. "IF ONLY". Those words will haunt me for the rest of my life.
If only I never gave Ashley that Gardasil Vaccine. If Only I never allowed her to risk her life by being a guinea pig for that damn drug. If Only I let all her care take place at St. Jude. If Only I would have taken her out of that Incompetent, negative hospital the minute we realized their gaps in care & there constant need to bring down Ashley's positive attitude because they... thought she should give up.

If Only there were more funding for Childhood Cancer Research. If Only there were drugs developed specifically for Children.

If Only More People cared enough now so that NO OTHER CHILD HAS TO DIE AND NO OTHER PARENT HAS TO ENDURE THE CONSTANT EXCRUCIATING UNBERABLE PAIN I FACE EVERY DAY.

IF ONLY

Don't wait until you are the person to say "IF ONLY". Do something now. With the increasing rates of Childhood Cancer, there is a high probability of a Child you Know & Love being diagnosed with cancer. Do something now, so if that does happen, their chances of surviving are better.

FACEBOOK POST FROM SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

On the last day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month I share some Statistics with you. But just because this is the end of our Children's Awareness Month, It is ...not the end of their battle. CHILDREN FIGHT CANCER EVERY DAY OF EVERY MONTH. NOT JUST 30 DAYS OF ONE MONTH

Today 43 US Children will be diagnosed with cancer and 9 US Children will lose their battle. This does not include the children World Wide.

If you knew that there were a possibility that a child you love could end up getting cancer and there was something you could do now to make a difference, would you do it? Well unfortunately with the increasing rates of Childhood Cancer the likelihood of a child you know and love getting childhood cancer is increasing all the time. So Now you know! The question is, are you going to do something to make a difference now or are you going to wait till it happens to a child you know and love? Then you are going to say, I wish I would have done something before.

Since Ashley was re-diagnosed in 2008 and had her radiation in 2009 in a short period of time a new form of radiation is out there called Proton. Had Ashley had that type of radiation with her 2nd diagnosis, she would not be suffering the many side effects she is suffering now: Short Term Memory Loss, Nerve Damage, Double Vision and many more that could still present.

Had more drugs been developed specifically for Childhood Cancers, instead of using drug's developed for Adults, Ashley would not have been diagnosed with AML the first time, let alone a second time.

Don't Wait! Do Something Now! Support the AshleyCan Pediatric Cancer Foundation, St, Jude Children's Research Hospital or some other reputable Childhood Cancer Organization. (Be sure to do your homework on some of the larger organizations especially, to see how much of each dollar goes to the cause.)

•Childhood cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded.
•Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the U.S.
•One in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 20 years old.
•Every year, an estimated 250,000+ new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide.
•Two-thirds of childhood cancer patients will have long lasting chronic conditions from treatment.
•Childhood cancer occures regularly, randomly and spares no ethnic group; socioeconomic class; or geographic region. In the United States, the incidence of cancer among adolescents and young adults is increasing at a greater rate than any other age group, except those over 65 years.
•Childhood cancer is not just one disease. It is made up of a dozen types and countless subtypes.
